Pillow Talk

Last night I was lying in bed thinking to myself:

As teens, we spend ALL of our growing up years wishing we were given more responsibility, that we were trusted more, that we could stay out as long as we wanted, and that we didn't have to report to anyone. Well, at 16, little did we know that it really turns out that we spend our time answering to the screams of little children, pulling pieces sucker out of our hair, and going to bed at 9:30pm.

Oh, to be young again.

Eye Spy Book Finished!!

I know it's taken me FOREVER to get this finished! But I have been forbidden by my Hubby to start any more crafty things until everything else is finished. So, I hunted around my house to find things to put into the Eye Spy Bag. I found some great buttons, pompom, stars, and other things. I think it worked out great.

Here it is:
The little tag is there so I can attach a laminated list of what is in the bag to spy. Yea for completing crafts.

Oh, and I made this out of an old shirt that my Hubby absolutely LOVED when we were dating. I LOVE reusing old clothes for new things

The New List

I found this lovely new blog today. (new to me) And how wonderful it is that Melanie Jacobson is doing a giveaway! She wrote a book, The List. And she is giving a copy away. This giveaway caught my eye because it gave me something to think about.

MY BUCKET LIST.

I have one. It's located all the way at the bottom of the blog. Under all my posts. Maybe this is to keep it a secret, I don't really know. But she brought up that bucket lists don't have to be restricted to things you have to do before you die. That feels like such a long ways away and doesn't feel like I have to try to accomplish anything on it for a while. I need lists that I can see accomplishments. Accomplishments sooner than later.

So, I'm making a new one. (don't get me wrong, I'm not discarding the old one.) This one is:

Things To Do Before My Kids Graduate:

  1. Go to Disney World; stay in a hotel in the resort
  2. Finish a Triathalon
  3. Buy a House
  4. Take my kids to visit New Zealand
  5. Have my own successful garden
  6. Visit Europe
  7. Camp EVERY summer
  8. Snow shoe EVERY winter
  9. Come up with a really spectacular idea
  10. Build/create something with each kid
  11. Family vacations EVERY year. (more than one)
I know that I have 20 years to accomplish this goal, but the last 6 years have gone by super quick. So, the next 20 will go by quickly as well I'm sure.

What would you do?

Charlotte Diamond: A Childhood Favorite

Just one of the many reasons I LOVE Charlotte Diamond:

You just can't disagree with that.

Doing It Over Again

If you were able to start all over from the beginning with your kids as babies, what would you do differently?

What do you wish you had known from the beginning?

How would you have handled things differently?

Oh, Back To School

It just smells like school outside. I love it. I remember being so excited for the new year; new teacher, new classroom, sometimes new school. Always more new friends. So much fun. Every year my Mom would take a picture of me in front of our house with my brand new clothes on and my backpack.

What kind of fun things do you do for your kids on the first day of school? OR what did your parents do for you?

F.Y.I.

Just in case you didn't know or haven't thought it through, you should NEVER plan a move and the 4 month Dr. appointment one day after the other! Vaccination fevers and grumpiness do not mix with my stress of needing to un pack.

When you have a sicky-feeling baby and you can't find your underware because it's probably on the bottom of the pile, you just want to curl up in the corner and melt away.

Beauty Lesson #1

Flailing

Screaming

Tears streaming down the face

What is it about the nail clipping time that makes little ones freak out? Mine had a complete meltdown today. One that lasted 30 minutes after I finished cutting the nails. I don't usually snip the end of her fingers. I'm just that talented. And usually she doesn't freak out quite so bad.

However, today was extra difficult. I did really well in the beginning. I made it through 10 toes and 9 fingers.

2 Snips left.

1 out of 2. Good.

Last snip. . .

Oh No!

She jerked her hand at the last second.

Got it.

Her finger nail AND the end of her thumb.

Bleeding on mom's shirt.

I felt so bad. I don't want to inflict pain on my Sweet Pea. I guess we have to educate early. (3 months isn't too early is it?)

Lesson #1:
Pain is Beauty

*********************************

What did you do to simplify the nail cutting process and to avoid painful endings?

You Know You are a Mommy When. . .

-you worry even when they can't move yet.

-you change 15 diapers in a day and don't notice the smell

-you have a little one start to throw up and you turn their projectile vomit toward yourself and it hits you in the face. (good thing I closed my mouth quickly)

-you don't immediately feel the need to remove your vomiticious clothing

-your sleep time, meal time, and pee time all revolve around the little ones schedule

-you praise the little one for burping in your face and letting out that adult size fart.

-you start to talk to Daddy through the Baby

-you dream about feedings and changing diapers

Baby Registry Question

I was just checking up on my baby registry and was wondering if any of you had some suggestions of things that are "ABSOLUTE MUSTS" for a new baby?

Anything that I should make sure is on my registry or make sure that I don't go without?

What do you like to use?

Favorites?

A Run in at the Park

I just went to the park with a friend of mine (who was kind enough to come pick me up; thank you) and her two little girls. We packed lunch and headed out.

Got to the park. Set up our blanket. Got food out. Fed children. And let them play at the playground. You know, playing with other kids, slides, running around, swings, etc. Oh, wait did I mention the Crazy Lady?

There (kind of out of no where) was an Old lady sitting at the edge of the park. She was sitting with her back towards my friend and I who were on the grass, but still right next to the park. My friends two little girls had been exploring and basically introducing them to other moms and their kids and playing with them all. Then we noticed that they were over by this old lady. We were watching and saw that the youngest girl took a doll from the stroller the lady had. We thought maybe she had taken it away from the baby in the stroller or that the lady's grand-daughter was playing in the park.

My friend gets up to make sure that her little girls aren't bothering the old lady and realizes that there is NO baby in the stroller. She makes her daughter put the doll back and takes them to go play in the park again. Well, the Lady gets up rather quickly and walks across the wood chips with the stroller. ALL while kooing and calming the DOLL. She gets to the cement out of the park and RUNS away. Completely RUNNING.

So, next time you are at the park, BEWARE of the old lady with the stroller and no child. Weird, Crazy old lady.

Maybe I'm being harsh, but it was strange. And you can never be too careful around children.

Don't Worry, It Will Break

Today I had the wonderful pleasure of Mer and her little ones over. We had poopy diapers, throwing up kiddos, screaming, sleeping, eating for the little ones and lots of ranting for us.

With everything going on and my TV being as old as it is, I didn't think it to be as fragile as some of the new HD, flatscreen, thin TVs that are out now. I thought that it would have a little more stamina.

BUT let a 2 year old play and you never know what will happen. (It's an old tv with a vcr built into it) He was just pushing the buttons, not even hitting the power button (amazingly) and we figured that he couldn't possibly hurt a non-powered TV. He was sticking his hand into the very convenient little slot in the front (thinking it was so cool) and we would tell him not to and he would pull his hand out. Again, not thinking that anything would go wrong with the TV.

Then, after he decided that wasn't fun anymore. He left and played elsewhere. An hour or so later, when he was getting fussy again, we decide that Big Bird could help and go to put in a DVD. Only to find that the TV turns on, begins to make all sorts of noises from the VCR and then just shuts itself off. We tried pushing buttons like the little one. Tried to fix it with the programming button, but the TV wouldn't stay on long enough to do anything. It was hopeless.

So, after today, I just wanted to pass along. No matter how old your TV is. No matter how indestructable you think it might be. Even if you think that there couldn't possibly be a way that a little one could break it. THERE IS. IT WILL HAPPEN. BE HERE NOW FOREWARNED.
