Formula Dilema

I'm just not producing the amount of milk to feed my Sweet Pea as much as she desires now and I've been trying to move to formula. The only problem is that she spends the whole evening throwing up after I try to feed it to her. I think she is allergic to the milk protein. So, I'm going to try lactose free next.

What kinds worked for you?

The Sound Of. . .

My feet on the pavement. Tap, tap, tap, tap. . .

The stroller hitting all the separations in the sidewalk. da dum, da dum, da dum, da dum. . .

My fat hitting itself. slap, slap, slap, slap. . .

Old sounds almost forgotten.
New sounds, although sad, enjoyable.

Yesterday, I ran just over a mile.

A MILE.

I ran. I ran. It didn't hurt. I couldn't believe it. AND I can do it. It felt wonderful.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Balloon Entertainment

A few weeks back, I was at Brick Oven in Provo where, while we were waiting for our food, I met the COOLEST Balloon Man ever! He could make anything that you want. Cars, a fish in a bowl, hats, dogs, butterflies, parrots, Teddy Bears, Monkeys, and anything else.
I asked for Tinkerbell. Isn't she amazing?

The Balloon Guy also made a HUGE Dinosaur Balloon Sculpture. The one that was up at Thanksgiving Point for a while. Go HERE to see what they do.

Stuffed French Toast

Yum, Yum. This is my version of stuffed french toast.

Two pieces of your favorite french toast recipe.
Put sliced bananas and sliced strawberries in between the two pieces.
Sprinkle icing sugar on top of the sandwich.
Enjoy.

Another Use for Your Pants

I was going through a bunch of stuff I have (getting ready for our garage sale this weekend) and I found these two bags that I made. I'm pretty proud of them. They are made out of old jeans and a pair of my dad's old Docker's.

I measured the size of what I wanted to put into them (in this case, scriptures) and then cut the pants and sewed them all together.

I used the waist band for the shoulder strap. I liked the way it looked. In this one, I kept the pocket. It was easier than sewing my own pocket.
On this one, I un-stitched the belt loops and then restitched them onto the bag for decoration.

These were extremely easy to make. I mean, I made them when I was in high school and couldn't sew anything but a straight line. (what am I talking about? I STILL can't sew anything but a straight line)

120 Mile Challenge: Week #2

Another week has come and gone. This week I pounded out 9.31 miles. Almost 10 miles a week, which is what I need to reach my 120 mile goal for the summer.

I'm still going strong with the walking, but the ability to see the light at the end of the tunnel is getting dimmer.

Past:

I was a size 10-12 for the first time since my sophomore year in high school. My legs had decided to cooperate with me and begin to slim down for the first time in my life. (this is a genetic trait that I was sure if I worked hard enough it would go away; it started to) I was eating healthy foods, and not really craving anything junky. I was feeling great. Running. Cross training. Lifting. Feeling really good about my body.

Now:

I'm a size 18. The largest I've ever been. My body wants to run, but I walk. It is getting easier to run. I did on Saturday. (part of my walk; only about .5 a mile) I need to lift. My baby is growing faster than my body can keep up. I have to step that up. My legs are flabby cottage cheese. My tummy has a huge tire around it. It's a lob-sided tire. None of my clothes fit. Not even my fat clothes.

Do you really gain 6-8 sizes EVERY time you have a baby?

Can walking really help with weightloss? I would normally be the person who said, "yes, it does. Any extra exercise you can to will help." At this point, it's hard to believe. I need to seriously keep track to see if it really does help.

Eat, Pray, Love

Finally, I finished a book this year. (I thought it would be fun to read a book a month, so much for that) Well, yesterday I finished Eat, Pray, Love. It was such a great book.

I loved hearing about her journey through Italy, India, Indonesia, and her own soul. Although I haven't been to any of these places and we are very different people (she's a writer and I'm a massage therapist), I could relate to what she was saying. She describes her feelings about things so much better than I ever could (thus the "writer"), and I couldn't help but say "that's exactly how I feel."

This was a great book. Despite the time it took me to read (new baby/new mother), it is a quick and easy read. I hope you enjoy it.

120 Mile Challenge:Week #1

I am going to report to you every week as well as HERE. You get all the crazy descriptions of my weight loss week.

WEEK #1:

This challenge started on Tuesday June 1st. And with all the stress of cranky Sweet Pea and moving madness I totally forgot to start on the first. However, I did venture out on the 2nd and 3rd. On Wednesday I went down to my Junior High track (oh the memories) and planned to walk a mile. I just couldn't help myself, I HAD to run. I ran a whole 600 meters!!

AND IT DID NOT HURT!!!

(For those of you who don't know that's one and a half times around a regular track, or just over a quarter of a mile) I did finish the rest of the mile.

Oh the Joy, the Bliss. I love running.

My total miles for this week(the week runs Friday to Thursday):

3.23 miles out of 120

F.Y.I.

Just in case you didn't know or haven't thought it through, you should NEVER plan a move and the 4 month Dr. appointment one day after the other! Vaccination fevers and grumpiness do not mix with my stress of needing to un pack.

When you have a sicky-feeling baby and you can't find your underware because it's probably on the bottom of the pile, you just want to curl up in the corner and melt away.
