Brick Oven Pizza: Allergy Disappointment

This past weekend we were in Provo. I have been craving their toasted bread for weeks now and thought that since we were down there we should go. So, we headed with our large group of family and friends down to the usually enjoyable restaurant.

When we got there I thought, to speed up the ordering process, I would ask for their allergy list/menu. They weren't very nice about my asking, like it was putting them out or something. They do NOT have an allergy list. I was shocked. I thought that it was law that everywhere had to have one. (maybe I'm wrong) I mean, Wendy's has one.

So, I was shocked and apparently looked it because they had their manager come over. (Like I was causing a disturbance or something) I had him check their chicken fingers for milk. He was also very put out that he had to go check. He told me they don't batter the chicken themselves. Like that would make a difference. I still wanted him to check the ingredients. He was not very nice OR helpful so I just waited to ask the waitress to check on the pasta ingredients.

She was very nice, and checked immediately. Not one of the pastas can be digested by someone allergic to dairy. Which means there was nothing on the menu I could order for my little Sweet Pea. They are the FIRST restaurant I have been to in a year that has not had ONE thing for my Sweet Pea to eat. NOT ONE! I couldn't believe it.

Their solution was that she is so little they don't usually charge if someone goes to the salad bar and gives the little one something they can eat from there. Now really, have you ever seen a salad bar? I eat from them, but they are not exactly mix free. How many times have you seen someone or yourself drop food from one of the bowls into another. I can't just give someone with a food allergy something from a contaminated space. Not to mention this salad bar was NOT well kept that night. One of the worst I've seen in a long time.

So, even though I really like Brick Oven to eat myself, I will probably never be able to go back. It's too much work to pack dinner for half my family just so that I can eat out.

Good bye Brick Oven.

A Pregnant Mother's Biggest Fear

I have decided that Pregnancy is no time to have a toddler around. Let me explain. I always wanted to have kids that ate healthy foods of all sorts and were the ones that were screaming and yelling in the supermarket for the asparagus. However, with pregnancy those dreams get tossed out the window.

Unless I got no cravings through my whole pregnancy, this is NOT possible. When all I want to eat is french fries, potatoe chips, burgers, pies, and cake, there is just no possible way to teach my Sweet Pea to like anything but what I'm eating. I mean, when I crave Wendy's and my Hubby walks in with the bag, she knows exactly what is inside. And she screams and yells for the french fries before I even get the bag opened.

Then I have visions of my child being 18 and on Biggest Loser. Of course, with me by her side. Her blaming me for all her obesity and the many other emotional problems that come along with it.

Is there any light at the end of this fat encrusted tunnel?

Goofy's Kitchen

I really enjoyed going to Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast. It's located at the Disneyland Hotel. And it was so much fun. When you go, you get to meet Goofy. And take a picture.

And while you are eating, you get a lot of other characters to come visit. We saw Chip & Dale, the mouse from Cinderella, Baloo, Captain Hook, Mulan, Belle, and a few more. It was a lot of fun.

We met the Chef. He made my little Sweet Pea Mickey shaped pancakes special because of her milk allergy. So, wonderful. She LOVED breakfast. She ate a whole bunch!

There was a lot of food and it was all good. I would definitely recommend going to the Breakfast Buffet at Goofy's Kitchen.

Day #15- No Chocolate

This No Chocolate thing is turning out easier than I thought it was going to turn out. I'm not craving it every waking minute of my life. Maybe I will be back to my old self?

Last night I did want some of the chocolate moose pie that Brick Oven brought out for my Brother's Birthday, but I survived. And had NONE.

Maybe I'll do it for longer?

Oh and this past weekend my other Brother and SIL (who have taken on the beautiful p90x) were exercising at my parents house. I couldn't stand it, I had to join in. I did almost 1/2 of the CORE workout. It felt AWESOME!! And I surprised myself, I CAN actually do the things I didn't think I could.

I was a little achy the rest of the weekend, but it was the good achy. I'm going to start again. I'm Stoked!!

J-Dawgs

If you haven't ventured down to "Happy Valley" to try these amazing dogs you have been missing out. They have a very simple menu: regular dog or polish dog. Then choose your condiments: jalapenos, onions, special sauce (a must), pickles, banana peppers, or sauerkraut.

I love the polish dawg with onions, special sauce, and banana peppers. So good. This was our lunch choice between conference sessions this Saturday.

J-Dawgs is located at 880 North 700 East in Provo, Utah. You HAVE to try these.

Red Moose Lodge Eden, Utah

This past weekend, my Hubby, Sweet Pea, and I went spent an evening at the Red Moose Lodge in Eden, Utah. It was kind of hard to find. The street signs in this little town are non-existent. We finally found it though. When we did it looked like this:

Actually, it looked like this in the morning. At night there were NO lights on the signs and the building is clearly NOT marked. (I did find lights pointing to the signs in the morning; they were just not turned on the night before)

When you first walk in you see this:

The lady at the front desk was very friendly. She checked us in quickly (baby needing to be fed probably helped). Then we walked down to our room.

I'm really sorry I didn't get a picture of the room when we first got there. And I wasn't about to take a picture of the room with the beds turned down, baby stuff all over, and our luggage strewn about. (And I wasn't about to make the beds the next morning. I make them at home, not when I have a maid to do it here.)

That evening we ate at Eats of Eden. I had a Taco Salad and my Hubby had the Buffalo Burger. We shared some fries and onion rings. All were AWESOME. If you are ever skiing up Ogden Canyon you should definitely spend your dinner time here. It was very good and not too expensive.

I really liked the Bath & Body Works Shampoo, Conditioner, and Lotion. Coconut Lime Verbena. My favorite.

The Continental Breakfast was better than others. Oatmeal, bagels and cream cheese, danishes, multiple kinds of fruit, cereal, milk, juice, coffee, hot chocolate, cider, and muffins. I enjoyed my Breakfast.

However, I was disappointed in my towels. They were not only really rough, (I was definitely exfoliating AFTER my shower) but they had something yellow on them. Are you serious?

I hope you can see the yellow spots. They are there. Trust me.

I was also disappointed in their sheets. They felt like I was staying at Motel 6 or something.

If I'm spending a little bit more on a place to stay I WANT:

-soft sheets (I don't need 800 count, but not 100)
-soft and CLEAN towels (my towels that were many many years old are softer)
-a shower that drains (I don't like to stand in my own filth)

Needless to say, I wouldn't go back to stay here. I might like to drive up the canyon to go to Eats of Eden though.
