Overwhelming Craftiness

All I want to do right now are craft projects. There are so many I just don't know where to start. Not to mention I'm not in my own place so I don't want to decorate and then move and have to start all over again.

Where do you think I should start?

I am not much of a phone person. I really don't like to talk on the phone. I would prefer to keep conversations under 5 minutes; getting right to the point of the call. Next to my hatred of making a call, I loathe leaving messages for people that don't answer.

Now, I'm not complaining that you don't answer, I just don't like to talk to no one. I feel so stupid. I babble on and on and on. My sentences are in fragments and falling apart. It's horrible. But it's something we just can't remove from our busy lives.

So, I'm apologizing now to anyone I ever leave a message to. Please pull out your code book to more easily decipher my messages.

I'll start by using my first Wacky Wednesday for packing up my apartment with no real place to go. That's pretty "Wacky," don't you think?

THE BOSS

My Mom told my Brother, who just got back off his mission, that he had to talk to DAD about getting on the phone plan. My Brother said that he thought my Mom was in charge.

My Mom said,

Snow Conquered Spring

I thought that Spring had Sprung. Apparently I was misinformed. I hate that.

It's been another one of those days. You know the ones that are FOREVER long, yet they fly right by. The day that has gloom pressing down upon you. The day that you watch kids movies all day long just because they are positive and inspirational so they HAVE to lift your spirits. The day you just want take out. A day to cuddle under a blanket and sleep through.

I'll go back to my day. Maybe I'll go read my book.

Enough Women

I have a really hard time with this quote. I feel that when Sister Nadauld spoke these words they were portrayed in a way that was negative. As if you could be only one way and not the other. (heaven forbid you be a well-balanced person)

I am Proud to be Tough.
I am Tender (unless you make me angry)

Coarse? What does this mean? If it means rugged and outdoorsy then I'm proud to be that too. I love that I have the pleasure of being a WFR, have experienced time in the desert with just the clothes on my back and I enjoy all that God made for me outdoors.

I am Kind. (again, ONLY if you don't cross me)

RUDE. I don't belch. I do my best not to pass gas. (unsuccessfully I might add) I don't cut people off while driving. So, I'm not rude.

Refined? I don't know many women who are "refined." (maybe not any) The Queen. When I sit down to a 7 course mean I have NO idea which fork to use. (I have to ask) My posture isn't perfect. My walk has a little bounce in it. I speak my mind, instead of holding my tongue. I don't think I'm "refined." So, does that make me rude?

I'm not famous.
I certainly don't have a fortune.
I'm pretty sure my faith isn't where I'm comfortable. If these are opposites, then how do I not have any of them. Oh, I have met some really nice, humble famous people. And I know some AMAZING people who really do have a FORTUNE. I don't believe that makes them any less faithful.

I'm not Greedy. (However, if we do not have more than an acquaintance status, then DO NOT ask to borrow something from me. I WILL say no)
I'm decently good.

I'm not vain. (I find it incredibly humorous that I live in the City that was voted by Forbes as the most vain City in the US in 2007. Even more interesting is that Fox 13 covered this story last year- just a little slow.)
I'm virtuous.

I'm definitely NOT popular. (especially in my ward.-they fear me)
I'm pure. (If you ask me something I will give you a genuine and sincere answer)

I just don't understand this quote. None of these things are opposites. I don't feel they really contradict each other. Oh well. I will just keep with the things that I like, enjoy, and am proud of. My Hubby loves the way I am.

It's just a Day

Today is just a day.
It's a day to read.
A day to sleep.
A day to wish that someone else makes the dinner.
A day of pondering.
A day of games. (card and board)
A cloudy day
A chilly day. (not that I am going outside or anything)
The day my Hubby is gone to meetings ALL day. (I hate meetings! Especially the ones where the person in charge thinks that something can still be accomplished after the first hour. NEVER happens.)
A day of loneliness at home. (Sweet Pea sleeps all the time still)

DO NOT TAILGATE ME. (especially when I'm ALREADY speeding) I AM AN ORNERY, NEW AND VERY OVERPROTECTIVE MOTHER. I WILL SLOW DOWN! AND CREATE THE FAMOUS "UTAH ROAD BLOCK" WHICH WILL NOT LET YOU GO ANYWHERE. IT WILL RUIN YOUR DAY AT WORK AND MAKE ME FEEL 1000% BETTER.

There's No Place Like My Bed

We spent the last week and a half at my parents house because my body decided to have a tantrum. This was a great help because I couldn't move or breathe very well for the first few days. Then my body ached SO bad by the end of the day for the rest of the week, I just had to have someone else cuddle with my little one. YUCKY PAIN! Grandpa, Gramma and the Uncles were very willing to snuggle Sweet Pea so that my body received a break. Thank you VERY MUCH!

Now I'm back at home. This is nice, but quiet. And I'm still not allowed to do very much. (my house is a mess) Sweet Pea has to get used to the new environment again. She has been good some of the time and a little fussy other times.

It was great to sleep on my bed with my OWN PILLOWS. Oh, glorious pillows. (The pillows are just not the same when you go away.)

Drivers License Division Nightmares

If you haven't been watching the news or needing to renew your drivers license lately then you haven't found out that there was a new law that went into effect January 1st about the information required to obtain and renew your license. I usually watch the news but had apparently missed this story. Let me back up.

Last week I went to the hospital to preregister. When I handed my license to the girl I checked my expiration date and about died. My license expires this Sunday! Crap. I have to go renew it. Renewal on-line and by mail is not accepted for an unknown period of time. You have to go into the DLD to renew in person and you have to take every document imaginable to prove you are who you are.

So, yesterday I went into the DLD to renew my license. Last time I did this I didn't need much and it didn't take very long. After waiting 30 minutes in line to receive a number and have them pre-check my documents and because I didn't know about the new law, I was sent home to bring my life back.

Here is what they sent me for:

1- Original or copies certified by the issuing agency showing evidence of your identity;
2- Legal/lawful presence;
3- Social Security Number or ITIN;
4- Two proofs of Utah residence address, if it is different than the address on your current Utah record; and
5- Evidence of name change, if applicable

Lets put this in preschoolers terms. You need:

1:
-drivers license
-birth certificate
(I was there and people with copies were being sent home to get originals. oh and they cannot be laminated and MUST be translated into English.)

2:
-social security card
(this is not just the number, you have to have the card in hand. again, not laminated.)

3:
-green card or visa
-passport

4:
-two bills in your name

5:
-marriage certificate

Every person must have all of these items. (except maybe #4 and#5. only with name and address changes) When I came back, I waited another 30 minutes in line to get my number, got my number and picture taken then I sat down.

I was there for 5 hours and 45 minutes. Waiting. I expected a wait, just not a 6 hour wait. The computer system went down twice while I was there. (this system is also brand new as of January 1st.) And I just had to wait for it to come back up. It made for a really LONG day.

I just couldn't understand why they kept checking people in and giving them numbers. There was no way that when I had been there 5 hours that someone checking in at 2 or 3 was going to get called that day. Which means they would wait until 6, not get called and then be angry they have to come back another day and start all over. This was my only complaint. They just needed to tell the people that they should go home, not waste their time today and come back tomorrow. (I also think they should be setting up an appointment system for this, but I'm not in charge. Even though I would like to be)

The workers were very nice. The kept their cool even with ornery people yelling at them. It is just a huge inconvenience for everyone.

I didn't want to rag on the DLD, I just wanted to make sure that if you have to go anytime soon that you were informed. Get a babysitter. Plan to be there for a good amount of time. Take food. (I didn't and had to have a friend bring me some. Thanks you much. saved my life!) Triple check your documents. Go early in the morning. They open at 7am.

Do's and Don'ts

I just have a little ornery demon that has been dying to get out and today I just have to release it.

Please when Driving DO NOT:

-talk on your cell phone (please, feel free to use a hands-free set; this is okay)

-drive with your skull candy earbuds in. (you can't hear emergency vehicles)

-drive more than 5-10 mph in a parking lot. (you will hit someone)

-drive in a snow storm without your lights on. You cannot be seen no matter what time of day it is. (I know, I drive up Parley's Canyon every day)

-drive with poor tread on your tires. You do not have to buy "winter" tires, but a good set of all-weather are wonderful for around the town driving. (your poor tread can cause accidents)

-drive on a day that you feel inadequate to operate your vehicle. If you feel the need to drive 5 mph on a day that the weather scares you, but does not necessarily require you to slow to this speed, PLEASE find someone to be your driver for the day or take public transportation. It is not worth the headache for you or anyone else on the road.

When Driving PLEASE:

-use your blinker. (in a parking lot, turning a corner, changing lanes, etc.)

-go the speed limit (unless weather/ice doesn't permit you)

-keep good wipers on your vehicle

-wipe all the snow off your ENTIRE vehicle. (this means your hood and roof and trunk. wiping off the hood means your windshield will not fog. wiping off the roof and trunk means that my windshield will not fog from the snow on your car flying onto mine.)


Okay. Demon ran away. Hopefully He won't be back for a while.

It's Amazing What You Learn Late at Night.

So, along with being pregnant, I got sick on Sunday night. (I think it was the flu. Nasty little bug) Anyway, this means that I was waking up every night multiple times per night. I always knew that my neighbors were night owls and I figured they were out partying all the time, but I just don't understand the fascination. When you come home EVERY night to throw up in the parking lot after your party life, what could be fun about that?

I just don't get it. And, when I'm already sick, I don't want to have to keep it down myself because you are so loud outside.

This isn't really that interesting. Sorry, I just thought that I would let ya'll know what I was experiencing every night this week at 3:30 am. And I really hope that they don't ruin their teeth with all that acid. Yuck.

Our Workforce Services

I was at the Department of Workforce Services this week and I was reading one of the signs posted over the fax machines. It was just a sign that told you which phone number to use if you were applying for un-employment.

After the first time they write "un-employment" it was abbreviated by "UI".

I wish that I had taken a pic with my phone. I just thought it was interesting to understand the importance of spelling at our Workforce Service Center.

Thoughts from Behind the Wheel of Phannie's Car

This week and last I have spent a lot of time in my car driving to and from work. I have had more than a few things come across my mind while driving and just thought that I would share:

1) If you do not spead, that's wonderful; BUT you need to get out of the way for those who do. Let them spead down the road and get pulled over, but please do it without causing Road-rage. Do not slow down in the FAST lane just to make people mad. Get OUT of the way.

2) If there is bad weather outside (rain/snow) turn your lights ON. I know that it's day time and there is light outside, BUT the lights are not so you can see they are so you can be SEEN.

3) PLEASE do not exit the freeway from the far left lane.

4) The Carpool lane is seperated from all the other lanes with a double white line. This means that you DO NOT cross it.

5) Do NOT pull over on the Left side of the road. This is the FAST/MORE DANGEROUS side of the road. We just might hit you. Pull over on the left. The Left side has a larger shoulder= more room to fix the problem.

6) We have had some beautiful days. Don't ya think?

7) If you need to talk on your cell phone please make sure that you have a hands-free set or have that cool feature that plays your phone calls over your speakers or PULL OVER to make your call. (I have almost gotten driven off the road too many times to count this week by people not paying attention because they were on their phones)

8) Everyone should get out and enjoy the SUN. It's beautiful. Just don't forget the sunscrean (I did last week. oops)

Anyway, you get the picture. It was a great week with a lot of defensive driving. I just have to tell you that I love I-80 and HATE I-15. The people on I-80 are so much more curtious.
